Taking newborn photos is such a special time for a new family. I love that I get to be there to witness the glow on parents’ faces during this sweet chapter in their lives. I get to photograph moments they’ll look back on for years to come and that is truly meaningful to me.

One option I offer families is to hold their session at Clinton Street Studios in Binghamton, NY. It’s a natural light studio with open space and a clean, cozy aesthetic. It’s a great alternative to an in-home photoshoot, especially if you’re looking for a neutral and uncluttered backdrop.

Clinton Street Studios features several rooms filled with natural light and thoughtfully styled settings. The space offers neutral walls, minimal furniture, and large windows, ideal for creating timeless newborn and family photos. Located at 161 Clinton Street in Binghamton, it's conveniently close to Vestal, Endwell, Endicott, and Johnson City.

The studio itself is calm, quiet, and peaceful, perfect for newborn photography. The multiple backdrop options throughout the space give us the chance to add variety while still keeping things soft and simple.

If you’re hoping for those classic sleepy newborn images, I recommend scheduling your session within the first two weeks after birth. That’s when babies are typically sleepier and more easily swaddled. But if those early days feel like too much, don’t stress, photos taken when your baby is a little older are just as meaningful and beautiful.

I suggest dressing your baby in a simple, neutral onesie that coordinates with the family’s outfits. I’ll also photograph them in just a diaper and can provide a wrap for those close-up detail shots if you’d like. Everything is done with a baby-led approach, meaning we follow your little one’s cues, no forced posing here. If you're looking for more posed or stylized newborn images (think props and sets), I’d recommend connecting with a photographer who specializes in that style, such as Fine an Dainty Photography, they do beautiful work in that genre.

There’s a bathroom available at the studio in case you need to feed or change your baby, and I always recommend bringing an extra change of clothes for everyone, just in case. One important thing to note: the studio is located on the second floor and is only accessible by stairs, so plan accordingly.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR SESSION

When you arrive, I’ll help you settle in and we’ll take our time getting started. I always build in extra time for newborn sessions so we can take breaks as needed, for feeding, changing, snuggling, or calming baby. There’s no rush. The goal is to keep things relaxed and let the session unfold naturally.

My style is simple and connection-focused. I aim to capture you holding your baby, admiring their tiny features, and soaking in this fleeting time. Some of my favorite images happen in the quiet, in-between moments, those real, unposed interactions that truly tell your story.

WHAT TO BRING

A few helpful things to bring along for your newborn session:

A neutral outfit for your baby (simple onesies photograph beautifully)

Any sentimental items you'd like to include (a blanket, stuffed animal, etc.)

Extra diapers and wipes

A backup outfit for baby and for parents

Snacks or water, taking care of yourself is important, too

AFTER YOUR SESSION

Following your session, I’ll carefully select and edit a gallery of images that reflect the tenderness of this moment in time. You’ll receive a private online gallery where you can choose your favorite images. From there, we can talk about prints, albums, or framed pieces if you want to bring your images to life off-screen.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Newborn sessions at Clinton Street Studios are always such a joy. The natural light, soft tones, and peaceful atmosphere create the perfect setting to document those early days with your baby. Whether this is your first or your fourth, every session is a chance to slow down and preserve this fleeting season.
